Fix My Registry – The How-To Guide

A few weeks ago I started to realise that my PC was growing slower and slower by the day. It would take entire minutes to run the simplest operation. That’s when I realised I need to do something and fix my registry.

Malware Alert

The first thing you realise when you go hunting for a reliable registry cleaning software is the huge amount of choices available out there. All pretend to have the ultimate solution to boosting your registry. You must however beware: not all are reliable and not all deliver on their promises.

First, you need to make sure that the registry cleaning tool you intend using is malware-free. Many cleaning software that are advertised online as registry boosters are in fact Trojan applications. Others get confused during clean-up and delete important system files. You will therefore choose a registry cleaner from a reputable vendor.

Online Evaluaton – Insist On Trying!

Secondly, evaluate the solution before downloading. Some registry cleaning tools such as RegCure offer free online system scans. Such a feature allows you to know what you are getting before actually having to download the application.

Insist on Minimal Key Features

Defragmenting. The registry usually tends to become cluttered with constant changes to it. Moreover deletions create “registry holes” which take up registry space. By defragmentation, your cleaning software compacts the registry size by getting rid of those holes and re-indexing data.

Another key feature is the possibility of creating a registry back-up before the clean-up process. While I was trying to fix my registry, I could back-up all the old settings so that in case anything went wrong with the installation, I could always reload the old working settings.

The ability to unselect entries you don’t want to delete. Good registry utilities allow you the option to choose which entries not delete. This gives you some peace of mind knowing that the utility will not simply go and delete vital Windows system files.

Routine scans. A good registry cleaner has this function. It allows you to set a routine registry scan for a given day and time. By automating the process, you are at all times sure that your PC registry is healthy.

While trying to fix my registry, I quickly came to realize that there are a number of registry cleaning tools available on the internet. I wouldn’t advise you to try out each of those. Bad registry cleaning tools may damage your registry data and even force you to re-install the operating system. Finally, and if I were asked to recommend a good and reliable registry cleaning software, that would be RegCure. I have used it a few times already and I am quite impressed by the large number of tools it offers.
